a Lesson in True perserverance
May 17, 2006What is SEO?
May 26, 2006Hi!
Nina and I have been working on the new structure of 3R website (that you will likely see very soon!). I realized that the structure is very important on a website for it determines the navigation scheme. It should be a natural and logical flow which people can understand and follow with ease.
The easier it is to use, the longer users will stay at the site, and the more they’ll see of it. If they have to search for ways to navigate around your site, they are going to get frustrated…
I think that obtaining a good website structure is not an easy task. We all know that there are few basic pages that your visitors will expect to see:
– FAQ
– Privacy statement
– Terms of Service (or Acceptable Use Policy)
– About us
– Contact Us
– Opt-in-offer
– Testimonials
Browse through the websites of your competitors to get an idea of how to organize your own website. Find out what sites similar to yours are doing well and where they’re failing.
The best way to improve your structure is to ASK people what they think about your website. Ask your co-workers, your relatives, your friends to test it. Do they find easily the information they search for ? If people can find what they want in three clicks or less, that is perfect.
I wish you the best.
