SEO Beginners Guide for Irish Websites
June 4, 2013Should you focus your SEO on specific keywords?
July 6, 2013It can be extremely demoralizing when you put time and effort into a piece of writing only to have it unappreciated and ignored. In online terms this is known as having a high bounce rate; people view your web page content for a matter of seconds and clearly do not read what you have written in its entirety. You may have written an article to market your official website or maybe just wanted to offer advice to others but you are finding the results are not being achieved due to viewer’s lack of interest in the information. People may have just hit on your page by accident due to specific SEO terms or maybe came to find a small piece of knowledge contained on just a line or two then left. To avoid this revolving door of bounces there are certain things you can do to influence users to stay on your page.
-
Title should match content – Whenever someone is looking online for a piece of information they scroll the list of search result headings that appear when their specific terms are entered into a search engine. When they see a title proclaiming to contain it then they expect it to be legitimate. There is nothing more off-putting than coming across a heading that in no way resembles the content.
-
Quality – Once the first and hardest task is over and done with, that being getting someone to land on your page, then you need to ensure they stay there. This is where the content you have written has to be of high quality and worth reading rather than being a bunch of words scrambled together for the sake of it; this points to carelessness and cheap marketing.
- Appropriate Links – The majority of people who purposely come onto your page or stumble there by accident are looking for advice and helpful information. It is important that you provide them with what they are looking for. This can be done by making suggestions of sites that might be useful for specific products or details along with providing links to relevant company websites. You then stand a greater chance of receiving more clicks as well, so it’s win/win.
