Budget 2008 – What it means for business and marketing
December 5, 2007Final Thoughts of 2007
December 29, 2007As we move into a new era, with Celtic Tiger 2, losing its teeth its breath coming in short gasps, cost pressures rising we need to start thinking of new ways to promote Ireland Inc on the global stage.
One of our amazing blind spots is the benefits of employing people who may have many degrees, qualifications and skills but don’t quite speak excellent English yet! Come on you fellow Irish, get them on board now, and help them speak English, these guys can really help us, and that is not by waiting tables!
I recently met with a most amazing organization Business in the Community, Ireland
They advise some of the top companies in Ireland on how to achieve a responsible attitude to the environment and the community.
The smart guys get huge positive impact which far outweighs any cost, due to increased press coverage, better staff retention and better brand acceptance, leading to an incredible rate of return if they were to classify membership as a marketing expense
CSR on Wikipedia is defined as follows; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby organizations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of their operations. This obligation is seen to extend beyond the statutory obligation to comply with legislation and sees organizations voluntarily taking further steps to improve the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large.
So think responsibly and maybe get your marketing off to a faster start.
